Reciprocal favor

The Tedtalk that we watched today mentioned the reciprocal favor that is valued in China. One of the stories that she mentioned was how they go to visit their teachers once a week once they finished school as a way to repay their teachers. In China, the no matter what the favor you ask for, you are expected to repay that favor. I think it is an amazing idea and value that they have because it really pushes the aspect of being nice to other and putting other’s needs ahead of your own. I think that is something that would be very well implemented in the rest of the world that we live in. It shows that you are really thankful for what that person did and didn’t just forget about it.

I think in the school systems and with kids it could be very good thing to implement. Children all the time ask people to help them without giving it a second thought. I think it could become contagious for a child to have to return the favor. Imagine a classroom where the children gave back to their classmates for the small things that they do everyday. Even in the clinic world, this would be beneficial. If you need to leave work early and somebody covers for you, the next time something comes up for them then you would offer to cover their clients. I feel like it has a lot to do with having respect for others and just treating others how you would want to be treated.
