How does the OTPF guide OT practice?

The OTPF supports the top-down approach of thinking. The top-down approach means that you have to think about the person as a whole, what their occupations are, and then figure out how to treat them the best way. I feel like this ensures that the client is going to be motivated and feel that the therapist has their best interest at heart. Also, the OTPF shows all of the ways that an occupational therapist is able to help others. I think that this helps to guide OT practice because people may not realize all the different aspects of somebody’s life an occupational therapist is able to help with.
